Ice Climbing in Scottish Highlands

This is a very demanding activity both physically and mentally and requires the right approach in every way!  Depending on suitable conditions this can be enjoyed summer and winter.  It is at once challenging and exhilarating, as are all sports with an ever-present ‘risk factor’.  A normal climb (without snow) can prove to be an entirely different kettle of fish when sheeted with ice and it is imperative that you have the best equipment available.  Training on an indoor wall is helpful for both the novice and expert alike as it also hones existing skills.  An experienced instructor is essential for the beginner and a guided expedition is helpful in the early stages.  Beware - once hooked you will be reaching for the skies!
