Pony Trekking

Pony Trekking in the Scottish Highlands

This is certainly a different but wonderfully heart-warming method of travel.  As you ride out from the Alvie Stables located within the Cairngorm National Park there are spectacular views of the Cairngorms, Spey Valley and Loch Alvie.  The Scottish Highlands are quite unforgettable and viewed from the saddle one feels ‘at one’ with the surroundings. There is always a chance of seeing some of the myriad forms of wildlife abounding in this countryside and, with four feet under you instead of two, the 1 or 1.1/2 hour rides give you plenty of ground to cover.  As with all the outdoor activities in Aviemore, there are different levels of riding available, according to ability commencing with trekking for beginners, intermediate and hacking for the experienced rider. Lessons can also be booked for children 4 years and over including adult tuition, with a weight restriction of 14 stone.  Riding hats and other equipment are available at no extra charge.  Oh, yes!  The horses and ponies are both well mannered and well schooled.

Many businesses listed on this site are Outdoor Activity service providers, offering tuition, guiding, holidays, courses and lessons in many of the activities listed in this section - click here to find out more.
