Navigation SkillsNavigation Skills in the Highlands of ScotlandIt is perhaps a natural progression for the committed mountaineer to learn the core skills that enable them to climb or ski over greater distances with confidence. Of all the skills required for the variety of terrain found in the Cairngorm Mountains navigation is the most important. Where better to learn than the Cairngorms that start on moorland and follow progressively through to the high plateau. There are a variety of Courses that are available – the one for you will depend on your needs - a beginner wanting to hill walk safely and confidently with the necessary skills and techniques safely ‘under your belt’; regular hill walker but with a.n.other navigating or some navigating experience but wishing to increase your skills. With these new skills comes the ability to lead a group, once the necessary qualifications have been gained. The ultimate achievement would be to have that extra level of proficiency to navigate in “white out” conditions.
